It was a late start to our rainy day in Paris. Suzi and I spent the day shopping and exploring the Galleries Lafayette before our evening show at the Moulin Rouge. We had a very leisurely lunch at Angelina inside the Galleries. Suzi had a club sandwich and I had onion soup and salad. Our waiter talked her out of getting onion soup as well because the sandwich she ordered was so huge and I think she was sad not to have it because it was so delicious. The highlight of the day was my souvenir purchase of a Louis Vuitton bag. After waiting in line we were escorted to a counter and promptly served glasses of champagne while we waited for my sales lady we have nicknamed "Hache M-ay" because we can remember her name except it was H__ M___. After some deliberation and much chit chat with "HM" I made a decision and we rang up the purchase. By this time we had spent the entire day in one store and were hungry so we visited the Galleries Lafayette food market and picked some items up for dinner on our way back to the apartment. It was a combination food market and specialty prepared food counters.
Unfortunately Nat missed out on our day shopping and our visit to the Moulin Rouge in the evening. I don't even know if I can adequately describe the whole Moulin Rouge show and do it justice. It was just hilariously awful. Way worse than a cheesy cruise ship production. We took the metro there and got some pictures outside the theater before heading inside for the show.
We were escorted to our table by an usher and a waiter quickly brought us our bottles of champagne. It wasn't much longer and the show started. It was a combination of a Vegas style production and a variety show with some boobs thrown in for gratuitous nudity? The highlights being a number including a lady swimming in a clear lucite pool with four large boa constrictors, a roller skating man and woman doing ice skating style tricks with ropes and harnesses, a three stooges style act, a ventriloquist and a couple of songs with mini horses on stage.
