The new week started off with Coral's birthday. Shame we couldn't buy some drinks as we don't have our passports at the moment, but we had a nice day. Issie and Chantelle headed to Shibuya for a shopping trip, while Coral, Tom and I headed into Ikebukuro to spend the day in Coral's world.
We had a sleep in for once, most of our days starting at about 9, before meeting tom for 1 at the station. By now, we have the subways stations down to a fine art and can get pretty much anywhere in Tokyo without much bother.
The first shop we were heading too was a Cosplay store. Coral, as some of you may know, is a cosplayer. Cosplay is when you dress up as anime characters and she has a group of friends who all work together to create pretty amazing pictures. She came to Japan with one outfit and is planning to buy about 3 more over the course of the year.
The store was actually quite hard to find. Coral and Tom had tried a few days before when they had gone just the two of them, but had been unlucky. We wandered down a random street before realising we had gone the wrong way and backtracking. But in the end we found the shop because we spotted some Japanese cosplayers. (Doing Izaya I believe?)
Coral at this point was buzzing with excitement and when we turned the corner was almost hyper ventilating with happiness. There was some kind of met going on where groups were taking photos in the park opposite the store. We spotted several different fandoms going on.
We headed into the store and discovered some event for an anime called 'Dramatical Murder' going on in the anime café. Then there was also floor which you could book to do photos in. The next three floors were filled with various goodies for Cosplayers. Outfits, wigs, accessories. You name it. Sufficient to say, Coral was in heaven at this point. I just smiled and laughed at her, while she and tom ran around like toddlers in a sweet shop.
Once we had looked around the shop, we went and had a closer look in the park at the various cosplayers. Coral and Tom practically squealing with every character they knew. I personally didn't know many but hey! I've been out of the world for a long while.
Still beaming with excitement, we headed over to the big animate where they sold manga and merchandise. It was bigger than the one in Akihabara, however it was so busy. You could barely move in it. Tom bought a few things before we retreated. Heading back to the Cosplay store so Coral could buy a Cosplay she really wanted.
Purchases made, we headed home, where Coral spent the rest of the night in her outfit. All in all it was a fun day and rather amusing to see Coral so shy. She wanted to go say hi to the cosplayers but was too nervous hehe. Tom got a picture with a guy dressed up as Cloud from Final Fantasy and was very pleased with this.
So yeah. University things start from tomorrow onwards so we'll see how the blogs go. Night x
