6th of April was the last time I blogged. AHSBFAHBFASWKWW.
Don't worry guys I am still alive here. And living WELL.
It has been a hectic busy month, despite school progressing at a relatively normal pace. Some pretty exciting things have been happening though! One: I have been invited to a wedding in Switzerland in July! That is going to be so so much fun!
Anyway, the last two weeks have been a relatively normal school routine, with some small differences :) Last weekend was the European Tour orientation weekend in Ulm. I was to travell all on my own directly to Ulm on Friday afternoon via two different trains, navigating numerous platforms and nearly getting on to the wrong train twice. I arrived at Karlsruhe Hbf with the perfect 15 minutes to find my train. I don't think that I really need to explain myself but I went into autopilot and found myself standing right there on platform nine and three quarters. Its a reflex.
Anyway I made it to platform 10 and then on to Stuttgart, where I changed trains and ended up in Ulm. Test #1 was getting to the Jungendherberge where I was to stay for the weekend. Without paying ANYTHING. I managed to catch a tram and then a bus without getting controlled once, which was actually quite fortunate. I finally strolled the final stretch and made it there early. Met all the cool dudes and dudettes and had a fantastically fun evening getting to know some American peoples. Just gunna' shout out to Stuart and Geoff, my American bunk buddies.
The next day was filled with presentations and then a visit to the town of Ulm, which was really cool! There was a local beer fest going down and we saw some typical German partying, right in the middle of the old town next to a really beautiful gothic style church. That night was a long and party filled evening in which I got not a lot of sleep. I was so so tired the next morning and kind of down in the dumps because I had been going too hard for waaayyyy too long and I think my body was like: "WOAH buddy. Slow down".
Anyway I trained home on a faster route and was back in Durlach for lunch after a really fun but exhausting first Rotary camp! I ate with the family and enjoyed cake and a wee relax in the sun. I then met my awesome friend Isabella at about 6 to head up the hill behind my house. It was just the pick up I needed and it really made my weekend! We spent hours just talking about life, friends, and family, up on top of this hill where we could see the WHOLE of Karlsruhe. Im not going to lie. It was romantic.
Then the sunset came. We just kept on talking and enjoying each others company late into the evening. And then suddenly it was dark! What felt like an hour turned out to be more like 3 hanging out with Isa. We then headed home and relaxed by the TV. ICE AGE 2 WAS ON. IT WAS MAGICAL.
So that was the best possible start to this week. A really cute evening up on Turmberg with a really amazing girl, and ICE AGE BAYBEEE.
Then the school week started. This week was really short because of the EASTER HOLIDAYS. I am not going to lie, it has been fantastic. Monday and Tuesday were spent in 25 degree heat and blazing sun, chilling with Isabella in the Schlossgarten and occasionally attending school classes (Jokes I attended them al[most]).
On wednesday I was picked up by the Reiffenrath family for an easter trial period - To see how I feel about living out in the country with them for a couple of months during the summer holidays this year. And I am not going to lie: I LOVE IT HERE. It feels like home. I walk for 2 minutes and all I can see is rolling hills covered with beds of yellow flowers, and the black forest in the distance. It is simply beautiful. The sun has shined every day since I arrived here and we have had a regular minimum of 27 degrees! The family is so super nice and cool, and they are the EXACT same ages as my family! I have a 12 year old host brother called Lukas, a 16 year old host sister called Lena, and an 18 year old host brother called Adrian. My host parents are really nice and my host mum here is an AMAZING cook! I don't think I will have any problem at all with the Pfaffenrot lifestyle for 2-3 months!
It has been a big buildup to easter, colouring eggs, eating chocolate, and enjoying the sun and 45 minute runs with my host dad in the forest. Today we travelled to the goregeous town of Baden-Baden, which is truly picturesque and filled with boutique stores and typically German houses. We enjoyed a fantastic meal together with the added company of Adrian's girlfriend Emily, topped off with the best creme brulee that I have tasted for a long, long while. LIFE IS GOOD.
So, ADIOS AMIGOS
And I promise to get back into my blogging routine. PROMISE.
Love and miss y'all!
