Today was an early start, which after a night at the Motor Inn in Tennant Creek, I was only too glad of! Up at 5am, breakfast at 6am, in the coach by 6.30am. It's amazing how easy it is to get up that early when you have something to look forward to. Turns out I don't hate mornings as much as I led people to believe. I'm not even having my afternoon naps either. Too many good times to be had and I paid too much bloody money to spend half the time with my eyes shut!
Today was a driving day, with loads crammed in between. First stop was the Devils Marbles - a huge set of boulder like rocks that look awesome. We took a little walk round them and took photos before jumping back on the coach. On the way to Devils Marbles Jara played various songs with devil in the title - such as Better the Devil You Know and Devil Gate Drive. Slightly amusing, if not cheesy! We also sang happy birthday to Alex who was 21 today. Next stop was Wycliffe Well which is renowned for aliens and UFOs but this was more of a toilet stop. Then we had the trek out to Ti-Tree where we stopped for lunch. A group of us played the alphabet memory game on the way - incredibly funny and a good way to pass the time! After lunch we watched Anchorman while we travelled through to Alice Springs. The coach has been very quiet today - loads had a late night last night and the early start has muted quite a few, leaving them unable to speak or move until they had to. Which isn't a bad thing believe me.
Once into Alice Springs we went to Simpsons Gap which was stunning and had a walk round there. After here we headed to the reptile centre where we had a really interesting talk about reptiles (funnily enough), saw Terry the big crocodile and a few others. I held a bearded dragon but bottled it on the python front again. They're really not my bag. From here we went on to Anzac Hill and climbed to the top, giving amazing views over Alice Springs. Went back via the town to pick up supplies before heading back to the hotel for dinner. The food was great, as was the company. After an hour or so chatting we went back to the room and had a few drinks with people on our patio. For the first time on this trip I caved in to peer pressure and had another drink when I probably should have gone to bed! Think I'm finally getting the hang of this.....
