Nicky and Ben's Travels
23 is my(ben's) new lucky number. We got to Auckland and decided to look around, buy warm clothes (it is really cold!) and just relax for a couple of days(tahiti, cook islands and fiji just wasn't enough!) However after a day or two we were ready to look around and one of the bus companies which we were thinking of traveling with were offering free city orientation trips. We got on the bright orange stray bus and before we even set off, we were told to think of a number between one and 50. 23! We all shouted out our numbers and as I shouted out my number the driver held out a card with the number 23 on it. I had won. The guide said 'congratulations, how are you with heights!' at this point I realised I had not won a bottle of wine or free chocolates! We then went to the sky tower the tallest freestanding structure in the southern hemisphere. I was going to go to the top and then jump off. see http://www.skyjump.co.nz/ for more! I got strapped into my flying suit and harness and went into the lift getting off on the 192m level. I then got clipped onto the cable and walked to the gangplank to the edge where I had to jump off into nothingness, it took a few seconds for my hands to let go of the rails, but then they drop you 5 meters so you are swinging in front of the resturant. then

Enough of Bens encounters with gravity!
It's freezing here! The first thing anyone does when they reach NZ is to head for the shops for some warm, toasty clothes. The recycle shops here are really cool (I got jeans, t-shirt and jumper for just 30 pounds and they are really nice.
We met up with our good friends Cecilia and Laura from Fiji in Base who had an extra day of warm sunshine and cold showers in Fiji. They had just arrived on the lovely 4am flight so were abit sleepy when we met up with them. But after chocolate, Chai Latte and sleep we were all eager to set out to Raviz (the Indian). We managed to meet up with Laura and Lenny from the cook islands as well and had a fun filled (very filling) evening full of cheap boxed wine and curry.
To my brothers dispair I actually met four of the All Blacks in a sports shop, tackled one in a bar, drank in the club house and watched them all play at the Aussie, NZ game at Eden Park! I was pretty star struck and may actually take up watching rugby on our return to England. We did watch the match for our wedding aniversary though (pretty romantic don't you think?).
Speights Chocolate ale is yummy!
