Nicky and Ben's Travels
We went swimming with the fishes! Sharks, stingrays and turtles as well as loads of other colourful fish. We spent the day at the lagoonarium where we had hours of snorkling and swimming. Except for the mossies this is the paradise that you expect it to be, palm trees, tropical weather(usually hot and sunny with clear blues skies, with the occasional quick short thunderstorm) we were staying in a little hut with a palm roof and only feet from the white sandy beaches not bad for 20 quid a night, now for the downside I am now used to cold showers! The first one was a shock but with the outside temperature in the high 20's and low 30's we got used to it and I even quite enjoyed a couple of then as it soothed the mossie bites! Much of the scenary was either clear blue sky or white sand depending on the way up I was lying on the beach, but we did drag ourself up the tall mountain road above cooks bay to the scenic viewpoint, 5 hours walking in 30 degrees is tiring and took 6 liters of water and a coconut cake! The last day we caught the sea cat to the mainland and this trip made the isle of man crossing seem like a millpond the waves in the channel were huge and all you could do to avoid being thown around or up was to hand on to your seat and keep looking forward. Thankfully the crossing was only 30 mins and we celabrated being alive with a beer in the first bar we could find! That night we could not get accomodation near the airport, so we had a sleepless night at the open air airport with other travellers stories of stolen bags and passports running through our minds. We made it through the night and got on our next plane bound for the cook islands.
