We have arrived in Sydney, Australia and the first thing I do is make sure there are no spiders or snakes anywhere near me. That is, I checked every chair and table that I sat on or near and wouldn’t go to sleep until checking that there are no snakes under the bed. Luckily this lasted just a couple of days on realisation that I hadn’t seen anything remotely threatening (phew).
We went for a guided walk around Sydney and all was going well, that was until Ben almost got himself arrested. Yes you heard right..arrested! We came across a lovely open outdoor lane swimming pool in Sydney, and Ben who was in his snap happy mood decides that it would be a nice idea to take a photo of the people swimming with the city as a background. Well it would have been a good idea if it hadn’t looked so dodgy. A passer by told him that if he took another picture of the semi naked people sunbathing then he would be arrested. You should have seen his face, it was so funny!!
We did however see the opera house at Sydney harbour and I had to stop Ben from going up yet another big tower, (well the last time we went up a big tower in the Southern Hemisphere he decided to jump off the top).
After Sydney we took a train to the Blue Mountains. We spent a couple of days walking for miles and going up and down trains and cable cars into the bush. We did see the three sisters and although I can’t recapture any funny stories from here the place will always be imprinted in my head for being so beautiful.
After heading back to Sydney we picked up our travelling house (a car with room for two in the boot and a tent for sunny days). No worries about the wildlife now! We then set off for our travels up north (and back down again).
