The manager at MD House organised us an airport taxi for 10am. When we got to the airport (when the slowest taxi driver in the world finally got us there!!) we saw our flight was delayed by almost 2 hours & we'd got there really flippin early too, sods law! When they finally opened check in we got rid of our big backpacks & went to a sports bar for some brunch.
Didn't sit in exit seats on this flight as thought we'd try the normal seats & to Nick's surprise there was plenty of leg room - though when he stoid up the Japanese girl next to him laughed as he hit is head - she commented on him being TOO tall, lol.
Luggage took forever & we begun to realise it was going to be tight to get back into the city & make it to Wat Pho & Wat Arun. Taxi was not as easy as it was in Chiang Mai, people everywhere offering lifts to the city, ranging from 700 - 950 Baht!!!!! We made our way to the public taxis outside & agreed a rate of 400 Baht, inc. tolls. As we got nearer the city it begun to pour with rain! Taxi dropped us at the end of Khao San Rd & it was time to get very wet!! Nick was a gentleman & struggled with both big bags (love him lots!!). We stopped under a shelter for an ATM & sussed out where our hostel was (didn't wana rush past it with our heads down in the rain!). We made a run for our hostel, I took Nicks big bag (slightly lighter than my big bag lol) to save him having to carry both again.
When we got to our hostel they couldn't find our booking! Agh! We went into their internet area & printed off our confirmation & would you believe they then found it!! And they made us pay to use the internet & print - I wasn't impressed, grr. Our room was alot nicer than our other Bangkok hostel, alot nicer, but it absolutely stank of stale smoke, it was so strong. But only here a few nights so not a problem & to be honest they probably all do.
Dumped our bags & rushed to Welcome Travel to book onto a tour to Ayuthaya for tomorrow, all sorted for 550 Baht per person - they're picking us up at 7am.
Enjoyed a freshly squeezed, pure, orange juice & went for some dinner down Khao San Rd, Nick had noodles & I had rice. Early night ready for early start tomorrow.
Oh & we didn't make it to the last 2 temples in Bangkok We spoke to a Tuk Tuk driver outside the travel agents but he said they would be closed now. A real shame as they were the last 2 to see but we couldn't help the flight delay which is what made us miss out. At least we've got our tour booked for tomorrow, we are both really looking forward to seeing the old city!
