We left Nelson at 0820 and went out to Nelson Lakes National Park where we did a 45min walk through the forest before relaxing by the lake with picnics. Whilst doing the walk we found ourselves back at a bit we'd done - we'd just gone round in a huge circle, we were worried it was one of those team building survival excercises but we all managed to find our way out lol.
Whilst picnicing some crazy kids braved the cold water of Lake Rotoiti for a swin. Nick played footi with the lads. From here we drove our way around and through Buller Gorge, alongside the Buller River (Maori name Kawatiri). When we got to Westport we all checked into our hostel, Bazils. Nick and I went to the supermarket and came back to make some dinner.
At 1830 everyone from our bus went to a small local bar where we all got to know each other better over a few beers and games of pool and killer pool before heading back to the hostel and all watching a DVD late into the night in the TV room. Nick tried Speights beer tonight and loved it. We've had a great day, met loads of interesting people and seen some beautiful bits of the South Island.
