After having the free breakfast at our hostel we headed out for our day of sight seeing in D.C. We walked to the Whitehouse, first to the back of it and then around the front. You can't see as much of it as they make out in the movies and on telly - there are alot of big trees in the garden covering alot of the front, but you can see the entire back of the house.
From here we walked to the Washington Monument before walking to the Lincoln Memorial. Unfortunately the reflecting pools were not full so looking from the Lincoln Memorial back to the Washington Monument wasn't quite the same but still a good view, we could even see Capital Hill in the far distance too.
We went to see the Vietnam, Korean, WW1 and WW2 memorials before walking through the mall area to the Capitol Hill Building. In the mall area people were playing some kind of frisby competition, some taking it far too seriously! One guy wearing goggles, others in knee starps, sweat bands, football boots - hilarious to watch!
We went around the back of Capitol Hill to see the Libary of Congress and the Supreme Court before walking to the National Archives building where we saw the Declaration of Independence and The Bill of Rights! We couldn't use flash photography there though so the photos off them aren't too good. We then walked back to our hostel, stopping at McDonalds for dinner.
