Hello everyone.............we have been on Ilha Grande for the past 5 days but unfortunatley still haven´t been able to download any photos.
We left Rio on Monday having had a fantstic last few days there. Most of it was spent chilling out on Ipanema beach which is packed full of people every day. You don´t even need to move, unless you want to go in the sea, as people are constantly walking up and down the beach selling everything from corn on the cob to jewellery and hats. We also managed to go to a football match at the biggest stadium in the world Maracana to watch the local flamengoes against America. Although it was quiet as Flamengoe had already qualified the atmosphere was excellent with drums playing and massive flags flying around, we have some great videos.
Then we headed off to Ilha Grande for some chill out time.
We have spent most of our time learning to dive here and have now got our PADI open water certificate. All of our training was in the ocean so we have been able to already see loads of amazing fish in all different sizes, some moray eels and loads of crazy looking things. Now that we are qualified we are going to do our first dive on our own tomorrow. We are hoping to go to a shipwreck, as there are many of the coast of Ilha Grande, you can often see unusual aquatic life like sea horses and some other smaller but beautiful animals. Ou second dive will hopefully take us to an island where turtles are often seen but it all depends on the visibility of the water on the day.
For there rest of our time here we have been chilling out on some of Brazils most beautiful beaches and then enjoying a few drinks and food with people we have met during the day. The food is also amazing and as usual this is somthing that is really important to us. The brazillians love BBQ but they are done on your table and you get to sit and cook your food the way you like it, nice easy job for the chef too I guess.
Anyway, we are off to Paraty on Monday which is just down the coast from Rio for a bit more diving and then we head inland to the Pantanal. Hope you are all well, keep us updated with your lives.
