After reaching Puerto Natales in Chile we prepared for our 9 day hike through the Torres Del Paine National Park. The plan was to do the complete circuit of the national park however an avalanche and really bad weather conditions on day one convinced us pretty easily to cut the hike short after 5 days. Torres Del Paine is one of the most beautiful walks you can do in Chile. It was truly spectacular, getting up for sunrise over the amazing peaks, walking along some beautiful glacier fed lakes and watching massive condors soar overhead.
We ended up walking along the trail with Scott and Cracker from the Navimag ferry (and ran into heaps of other Navimag comrades) who kept us entertained every day with their jokes and lack of hiking experience. They bought the wrong gas for their stove, Scott only brought his Aussie summer sleeping bag (gets down to zero in the park) and had blisters from day one!
We all celebrated our return to Puerto Natales at a local bar and ended up back at a Military base in the wee hours of the morning, which was ultimately a mansion on the water for all the army officers.
