Have just spent two nights in Venice. I had no idea how big it is - made up of 113 islands. Our welcome was a gondola ride through the canals accompanied by a piano accordianist and tenor singer :-) We stayed on one of the popular islands for two nights - Lido island and had to catch our private launch everywhere. The visit to the Murano factory on Murano island did some major damage to the finances! We spent half a day on the main island and hung out around St Marks Square. There are many things to see and do. Its funny what an experience can teach you we went to a cafe on the square and there was a quartet playing music there. Little did we know that when we asked for our check that we were charged €5.80 per person for the live music!!!! A highlight was going to Burano island for dinner. It is an island where delicate laces are hand made and is where many fisherman live. We had a 13 course degustation seafood feast!
