After a long day traveling across the country by plane, we got into New York in the early evening. We checked into our apartment and set off to find some groceries. Finally, we can cook our choice of meals. Lynette's dietary restrictions of no garlic, onion, wheat or sugars was limiting a lot of our choices in restaurants.
We slept badly knowing that mum and dad were due to arrive at 2 am and we would no doubt hear them. They eventually got to our apartment at 3- ish and we were then all up til four, excited to see them.
We slept til nine then couldn't let the day waste!
We headed off by cab to the famous Times Square for shopping and Broadway tickets. The place was alive with flashing lights, crowds and hawkers everywhere. We went to the infamous Gap clothing store and other shops and mum lined up for us to buy tickets to a show. She managed to get tickets to Memphis the Musical. Dad had to leave and go back to the apartment for a rest, he is still unwell with his pneumonia. We, mum, lynette and I, shopped and ate an excellent lunch in a cafe where you can create your own salad-very nice!
We went to Macy's and looked at handbags and all too soon it was time to get ready for the show. We couldn't flag a cab during peak hour so we walked the long way back to the apartments - very good for us.
We raced upstairs and got dressed for the show. Cabs in New York are cheap when sharing between four so it is definitely a preferred way to travel.
The musical was exceptional and the cast were extremely talented. A very good set and story. I thoroughly recommend it!
We had a late dinner at Planet Hollywood and sat under a wookie from star wars! Had to get a photo for Amy as that's her nickname at school.
We all had steak and shared a Shiraz - an enjoyable evening all round.
We cabbed it home and went to bed. Tomorrow the statue of liberty or big green lady as she's known!
