Hola! (Yes we have spelt it right this time)
So two days later and we have explored the capital city of Quito, both the Old and New town.
Ali is currently uploading a load of pictures, even a one of the infamous Jesu, please take a look and have a laugh, they aren't quite as exciting as the ones we hope to take over the coming weeks but still some fantastic views.
On Wednesday night we had the most amazing tapas and unlimited wine (we are still classing ourselves as students so its ok) where we sat outside and enjoyed the sounds of a reggae band (please see photos).
Yesterday we got a bit cultural and took a local bus which was an experience in itself, absoulutely packed with people and Ali and I looking like the only english people on there, holding our bags to our chest. However, despite our moaning, the buses are at a bargain price of 25cents, which is about 12p, and it wasn't a one stop hop, we were on the bus for about 15 minutes. Anyway, enough of the bus stuff :-) once there we visted lots of the capitals churches and cathedrals, hiking to the extreme to to see the La Bascialla (please check out the photo titled walk to la Bascilla to see our actual hike and to prove we are not exaggerating)
This morning we took a gondola to the highest point in Quito. although cloudy we saw some fantastic views of the whole of the city and mountains above. Quite odd to be stood above cloud level. Met a really nice american girl who we are meeting soon for a mongolian bbq.
Joining our trip tomorrow, so the next blog we will fill you in on the rest of the people on our tour and also our Amazon adventures.
Keep checking and reading the blog!
