Hola amigos!
So we departed Quito and made the lengthy journey to Otavalo, Ecaudors most famous markets. The sun was out and the markets were beckoning us to spend money and barter till our hearts were content. So we set out in the heat of the day and viewed the locals handicrafts. We had been told that the market sellers would expect people to barter the price down to half and they did but they were so friendly and willing to help. We looked at Pashminas and the lady must have shown us about 50 different colours, only for us both to settle on the first colours we saw, we bought lots of other little things. The jewellry was lovely and Ali purchased some lovely earrings and bracelet and we both got some gorgeous local artwork.
The group we are travelling with seems like good fun, most of them travelling for a year or travelling indefintely without a clue as to whether they will return home so we must seem really feeble on our 7 week tour!
Otavalo was great fun and we enjoyed bartering till our hearts were content as we basked in the sunshine.
Next we make our trip to the amazon which is where we face our fears spiders and other jungle species!!
