Hey Guys!
Firstly, let me wish you all a belated happy Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope 2008 brings everything you desire and that you do better at keeping your resolutions than I am! So, the festive period found me not only back in Sydney but back working at my old stomping ground: The Maze! The manager here, Mick, found me some work for a few weeks and so I decided to stay around and spend christmas with my sydney mates!
So three things have happened of note since my return to the big city. Firstly, just before Christmas a few friends and I decided to take a boat tour of the harbour. A normal ferry ride, however, would not be sufficient for us adrenalin monkeys, so we decided to take in the views at 100kpm aboard a jetboat! It was briliantly fun, and very wet, especially as we sat at the back and were therefore hit by a tidal wave every time the driver decided to pull the 270 degree turns he was fond of! That was all part of the fun though, and we did see a lot of the Harbour and Sydney Cove, even spotting penguins at one stage!
This brings us on to Christmas Day itself. It was weird having a first christmas away from my family, but I am glad that I stayed on in sydney to spend it with friends rather than amongst new people in New Zealand. The day itself I spent at a music festival on Bondi Beach. It was an all day event featuring some big bands like the Pot Belliez. It was a great day, and the weather was briliant, which was deeply confusing on Christmas day for a pom like me!
The final event that needs to be recorded for my second stop in Sydney is of course New Years. This I spent with a spanish group down at Darling Harbour. It was a really good night, we ate grapes (traditional in spain at new years!) and watched the breath taking fireworks, though we all agreed they were early by two minutes! there was also live music for free, which was brilliant as most clubs were charging upwards of $50 for entry. All in all it was a very very good night in the most perfect of settings!
Anyway, I must go as I am at work, but I will update again soon, probably from the next stop on my adventure....NEW ZEALAND!!
