Our flight out of Varanasi to Delhi and then onto Cochin isn't until 3.50pm but after our morning on the Ganges yesterday we did a tour of the city and visited sites such as the Bharat Temple which is dedicated to Mother India and the Banaras Hindu University. One of the main temples down near the ghats we decided to pass on visiting due to the huge line up to get inside due to all the people in town and celebrating Diwali. Our guide Sunny does take us to a silk factory where we see a demonstration of silk cloth being weaves and end up purchasing a silk scarf and table runner.
So seeing we saw quite a bit yesterday we don't really want to face the crowded streets and spend a lazy morning hanging out in the hotel, watching a bit of Indian tv and finishing off with a drink in the bar before we leave for the airport. Luckily we leave early as we have all sorts of dramas with Air India. Still not sure what the problem was but we were checking in only to some drama and one of us (Bob) had to go to their office to have it sorted. We line up again and Laurie and I get issued boarding passes but there are none for Bob and Deb. So back into the office for some more sorting (no idea still what the problem is) Then finally third time lucky and we all have boarding passes in our hands much to our relief.
We arrive in Cochin around 9pm and can immediately feel the humidity. It's good to get to The Dream Hotel, have a hot shower and jump into bed.
