Mr Anthony collects us at 9.30am and we take the slow windy drive back down to Munnar. Here we collect Charleson who is our local guide here. First we visit the Kanan Devan Hills Plantation (KDHP) museum where we watch a short video about the history of the area and the company. Then we visit the museum and a small scale factory where we learn how the tea is processed. We all will appreciate our tea a little more now knowing what goes into getting it to our cups back home. I now know what leaves are used for white, green, leaf and chai (ctc) We finish with a complimentary cup of masala chai (yum). Next we visit Eravikulam National Park where we have to catch a tourist bus up the switchback roads to the top of the mountain. We then walk along wide pathways even higher up the mountain where we have have magnificent views of the surrounding tea plantations and mountain range. Again we become one of the main tourist attractions for the locals as they stop us to have their photos taken with us and forcing their slightly apprehensive children to stand beside us to be photographed. Finally we take a walk through the main street of Munnar where we stop at a spice shop and the boys buy 1kg of homemade chocolate for 350R. They couldn't believe the size of the bag they ended up with!! Before leaving to head back to our hotel we wandered through the local fruit and veg market with its menagerie of colours and smells.
