We drive to the outskirts of Jaipur where we stop to collect our bikes and meet W who is joining us for the cycle leg of our trip. We are pleasantly surprised by the bikes as they are geared Trek mountain bikes. We set off on our journey and it's not long before we have excited school children running along beside us calling out the now familiar tat ta. Some of the older teenage girls giggle us we ride by and the boys are all very interested in the gears on our bikes. We ride past farmlands with the women in their colorful headscarves dotting the fields we ride by. We stop for lunch in a field where women are tending their goats. Siri strikes up a conversation with a couple of them and although we can't understand a word they are saying we know that one of them in particular is good fun. He later tells us she was trying to marry him off to one of the village girls. Siesta time is interrupted by a steady steam of children walking home from school who stop to stare at us. One group of teenage girls stop and keep us company until its time to leave. They don't speak English and us no Hindi but Bihari sitting in the van interprets a little for us. They love having their photos taken and seeing the image back on the camera screen and I am mobbed when I start showing them other photos on my iPhone. One of them invites us back to her home but it's time for us to hit the road again, so we wave our goodbyes to this lovely group of young ladies. After a few more kms we stop at a tiny village were we meet another family and see a beautiful young girl at work weaving a carpet. She is absolutely stunning looking and a little shy about having her photo taken, unlike the the younger children in this little village. One of them pumps some water for us to splash on our faces to cool down and a group of schoolboys stop and show us their text books, one of which is in English. Again we say thank you and good bye as we head to our first campsite in the fields of one of the local farmers.
