Friday 18th July -

Went to bed at 4am last night after chatting to a couple of drunk Aussies for ages. They were pretty funny - Guy was threatening to throw them out of hostel for being too drunk and noisy.

Got up this mornin at 10am - Got the usual breakfast (3x toast and jam and 2 x Cups of Earl Grey). Went to Ueno with Yoshi (Japanese guy) and Aero (Finnish Guy). Had a look around the shops/market stalls. Ueno has a big shopping area/arcade called Ameya-Yokocho where you can buy cheap food and clthes. (see pic of pig face that you could buy along with pig and chicken feet/hooves.

Had some lunch there which was potato/beef croquette followed by Melon then a walk through Ueno Park. Ueno Park is right next to Ueno Zoo (where Ling Ling the panda was before she died earlier this year).

The park was really nice (massive Lotus Plants grow around the swampy middle). It also has shrines and a boating pond. Got my photo taken with some dudes dressed up in really weird outfits etc (see pics).

Got back to hostel late afternoon and then went for dinner. We had tendon. It was basically some rice, weird veg, soup and some huge lightly battered prawns. I would say it was amazing but it wasn't. I loved the prawns and rice but the rest was a little unusual.
