I took an instant dislike to Santiago as soon as we arrived...but this soon changed. The reason for my dislike was the chaos that was all around the bus station as we arrived, as well as the painful border crossing from Mendoza. Both led me to believe the Chileans were very chaotic and disorganised.
However, once arriving at our hostel and seeing the views of the city my mind changed quite quickly. We were overlooking Plaza de Armas (see pic on this page) which was stunning and very lively. Our hostel was great and all was good. Our first stop was to the funicular and cable car, which took us to some spectacular views of the city and beyond.
Everything about Santiago was good. We found some great places to eat and drink and some cosy little corners of the city allowing some escape from the hustle and bustle. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
