Hi All,
Well the last part of our trip has been very eventful, after Foz we left for Bonito where we celebrated James birthday with food, drinks and cake, was a great night and the whole group helped us to celebrate, the weather was pretty poor the 2 days we were there so we couldn´t head to snorkel as we had planned but we all chipped in and shopped for a big lunch and played cards in the afternoon before antics started.
We then left at 7.30am to head to the pantanal which was amazing, we slept in hammocks for 2 nights and had to wade through the muggy waters where snakes and caymans were lurking beneath our feet - we were also shown a fruit of which you can paint your face blue with - slight miss understanding with the translation as the guide was explaining that we could use this NOT TO use this so James and i ended up with blue faces for the next 4 days as the stuff is pretty hard to wash off - Very funny though, the following day we rode horses through the waters so we had a chance to really take in all the wildlife that was around us such as stalk, toucans, parrots, monkeys, and flying fish. It was really impressive and we had a great 2 days there.
Then we moved onto Santa Cruz which was just a stop over really, as we crossed the border in Corumba over to Bolivia, we ended up having a very westernised day with egg and bacon, and Irish pub for dinner and spending the day at a water park - Oops - However it was great fun and a chance for us to relax after 26 hours of travel on buses and the death train! They call it this because the ride is so bumpy it makes you want to jump off and kill yourself!
The following day we flew to Sucre and we have had another 2 great days - Yesterday we headed out of the city and hiked of 5.5 hours over rivers, and mountains and the views were amazing! James took over 200 pictures, the altitude here killed me (Nat) so i´m now taking tablets as were heading further up over 4000 meters tomorrow and i felts not so great once we stepped out of the bus to head out for the walk - But 5.5 hours 3 falls very tired feet and a 6 mile hike later we were heading back to the hotel where we saw Sucre lit up by night and was a beautiful view to see.
Today we were up early for our city tour which was jam packed full of info on the city and the revolution which again was fantastic.
Bolivia is by far a much prettier country and very has lush green surroundings which is wonderful to wander around. Its also very very cheap and were loving eating good meals and cheap beer!
Were just about to head out to the markets - Hopefully come back with some interesting buys. And tomorrow morning we travel by bus to Potossi for a day.
Will upload pictures another time as need to head out but keep a look out!
Love us!
xx
