Nat and Beck Go Large!
We arrived in Melbourne at about 8.30 on Saturday morning after actually having slept for most of the journey down here - we must be getting used to this travelling lark! To our obvious delight, we have been put in a 14 bed dorm - the smell of feet is fragrant! The residents are unusual to say the least - either Asian or in a coma, apart from Sally the Tasmanian Devil, who has come over to volunteer for the Melbourne Commenwealth Games and proceeded to tell us all about herself, her partner and her bit on the side - and what she was going to do to the latter - in detail - when she got back to "Tazzy". Thanks for that Sal! Appreciate it!
We had a wander around Melbourne, then Becky retired to bed for "an hour"...4 hours and a shower later, we headed to the bar downstairs to watch the Reds play the Manc ****s. Some young whippersnappers up for the weekend from Albury invited us to play pool...think they may have been trying to chat us up; however, 1: they were only 19 & 2: don't think the one called Dale was actually 19..more like 15 & just out of braces! Just our luck!
Pool was abandoned once the match started...just us and about 15 Man Utd supporters, cozy! Didn't deter Nat from being her usual colourful self! Don't hold back Nat, tell that screen EXACTLY what you think!!
Yesterday, we arose at 8:30 am...yes, in the morning!! Had our free brekkie, and were dressed and at the Zoo entrance before midday! This is surely a one-off occurance, please don't be mistaken in thinking we're going to make a habit of this early morning business. Had a great day in Melbourne Zoo, saw ginger monkeys and everything! Chester Zoo has got nothing on this bad boy!
Today, we woke hangover-free yet again (that's 2 days on the run now!) and made our way to Federation Square, which is full of crazy buildings, and then took in a bit of culture and knowledge at the Immigration Museum. The overload of culture made us feel lightheaded, so we made our way back to the hostel...via the shopping mall. Ooh, big up to Karen (Becky's ma) for the clothes parcel that arrived today for Becks...there was mass excitement in the post office, I tell thee!
Another booze-free night is planned tonight (don't know what's wrong with us, maybe cos there's no bad influences around like in Sydney) so we can make ourselves look pretty for Harold Bishop tomorrow...that's right folks, we're off to Ramsey Street!!! Yeah!
Lots of Love, Nat and Beck xxxx
P.S. Becky's 21+2 on Wednesday, lots of birthday messages please!! xx
