Hello readers,
Oh my goodness i actually cant believe its been so long since i've written!!! how on earth am i meant to remember what i've been doing!!! be jesus!!!! anyway lets give this a good old bash!
Right on arrival to Suirfers Paradise we were greated by a mere 50 000 fanatic rally followers since it was Indie 300 weekend. For you non car lovers this is an international race consisting of formula one type cars and many others too. the whole town is turned into a racing track and all the hotels and hostels are booked up months and months in advance! people floud the streets with beer cans and there are lots and lots of ladies with the bresticles out! now you know why the ration of men to women was 4:1!!! crickey mate (As Steve Irwyn might have said) thats a lot of testostorone!haha. We stayed there for 2 nights and went out one of them - it was great fun since girls got in free everywhere and got lotsa freebies! haha - dont worry mummy i watched them poor my drinks! The next morning we just chilled on the beach. There was a big air show going on which was cool. I've uploaded some pics of Surfers - its the one which has a beautiful beach and skyrise buildings next to it. This area is called the gold coast of Australia.
From Surfers we then headed up to Brisbane which just like any other city so upon arrival we booked onto the bus leaving at 6.30 the following morning! So in other words we skipped Brizzy and went to a little town called Moloollaba! how cool is that name! its an aboriginal word meaning.....something (i was told but fish brain here has forgotten already) but i love saying it anyway! Moloollaba....is a seaside little town with a beautiful harbour and houses on the waterfront with their own little jetties! lushes!!! anyways, it is also the closest town to Australia Zoo so we booked to go there. We were picked up by a huge Oz Zoo bus and were given a running commentry by the driver on the Irwyn family and the history of the Zoo. The zoo was pretty cool although i cannot help but feel that his wife has made a business ofd the family name and totally exploited the children. The little girl Mindy, who is only about 7 has her own work out video with full grown men following the routine in the backround?!!!???? very odd...and the little boy Bob who cant even speak properly and must only be about 3/4 is projected onto all these different screens and like a parrot is made to say things like 'crikey shes feisty' (about baby crocs not women!). i dunno i just felt a little wierded out about it. Also Steve's faces is absolutely plastered all over the joint and every few seconds theres clips of him talking to you on the screen....eary!!! The zoo also had tigers and elephants (which is also odd as its meant to be a reptile sanctury!!! haha) that are trained to perform for the public - another thing i didnt like after having just come from africa and seeing these animals in the wild. The crocs however were phenomenal. We got the chance to sit through feeding time which was amazing. The snap of the crocs jaw as he munched on pieces of meat, sent shivers down my spine!!! The dinosaurs were 16ft long and were not very friendly at all! In fact since being at the zoo we have heard of so many deaths along the coast of English and German perople being eaten by crocks both in rivers and in the sea!!! yikes!!!! Anyway, so as you've probably guessed my feelings on the zoo are fairly mixed although it was worth visiting!
From Moloollaba (go on try it..haha) we went to the much talked about (in these parts of the world anyway) Noosa. This is another little sea side town which is split into 3 little section and like Moloollaba (see i told you i love saying it) also has a river going through it as well! Noosa is situated next to Queensland's rainforest - The Everglades. This is where we went on a 3 day kayaking trip. Unbeknown to me, the trip was self guided and after being given the maps, equipment and told not to swim in the river, we were left by the guides! haha. I was paired up with the only boy in the group - quite handy when you have to kayak for 3hrs min a day!!! The girls nicknamed him Bear Grills - i dont know who that is but from his kean, geeky outdoorsy behaviour im guessing he's a nature presenter?! you guys probably know who he is! So Mr.Grills was very good at kayaking and pouling the kayak up onto the bank, lifting our tents and cooking equipments off - what!?! someone had to find a perfect camping spot....in the campsite!!! haha. he even had his own professional tent! haha, as you can imagine he provided much of the entertainment (even though he didnt know it!). So on the first day we had to practise getting used to being in a kayak so went up and down this creek which took us 1.5hrs. we then loaded the kayak and paddled for another 2hrs to Harry's Hut where we had to set up camp for the night. Luckily we were also joined by an Irish couple who were a great laugh so after munching on tinned ravioli (can you believe what the girls made me eat mummy!!! SICK!!! especially as i knew you lot were in London having a lovely barbie for Michie's bday!!!) we sat around the fire and shared ghost stories as it was Halloween. Oh oh oh i nearly forgot to mention that we also has a huge yellow and red snake in our camp which i scared away by smiling at it - only joking - i stomped my feet!!! The second day of camp Everglades we had to paddle upstream for 1.5hrs where we had to climb a mountain for 1.5hrs to see the sand dune that bazarelly placed itself there. we took some cool pickes and then walked back down for another 1.5hrs and then, yes you've guessed it...paddled back to camp which was 1.5hrs away. So for those who know me well, i looked like Mike Tyson after this trip!!! haha. fun times! On the final day we only had to paddle 2hrs back to base where we were picked up by a boat! phew....
So back to Noosa for one final night. We attempted to go out but i fell asleep in the Irish Pub from being so tired so in the ned we went home for 11pm!!! Geez you'd think we'd have mastered this party animal thing by now!!! haha. From Noosa we went to Hervey Bay which is where we went to Frazer Island from. Frazer is tha largest sand island on the world and the only way to get around it is in 4x4 cars. Our car had 9 passengers and 4 drivers, 1 of whom was ME!! well if you think im bad you wanted to be on this trip! the two boys (if you can call them that) were totally useless!!! Apart from having the highest pitched voices ever, the refused to climb to the top of the truck to throw down all our things which were kept under a cover on a roof rack and had never pitched a tent in their lives!!!! I KNOW!!!! AND....they couldnt drive to save their lives!! oh it angers me thinking about it. the island is full of dirt tracks as you drive through the forests and naturally there were millions of huge ditches and pot holes which for some reason they failed to EVER notice! The german girls in the car saved us the job of having to scream at them - that was also hilarious!!! Anyway, Amy and i were voted best drivers because we handled the conditions so well!! haha.
Moving on from my little rant (they really were a bunch of gimps!) Frazer is beautiful! Lake McKenzie is officially my 2nd favourite place in the world after the Parenthians in Malaysia!!! the water in this lake was as clear as... well water i guess!!! haha. it was also fresh which meant we could drink it! The sand was as white as snow...haha...and it was surrounded by greenery! i'll add some photos for you to see. When we weren't off road driving we were driving on beautiful flat beaches. Phenomenal. There is also a 300yr old Scottish shipwreck on the beach which was so cool to see. Champagne pools to swim in, breathtaking views and other tedious things on the agenda is the way in which we filled the remaining time on the island!
Anyway, i'll leave it there for now as you're probably bored of reading and im bored of writing and my times up so i'll be back shortly to finish my little story off!
I love you all dearly and miss you too!
Big smooches x x x
