We arrived in Kuala Lumpur around mid afternoon. As we had not sorted any accommodation or a way to get to anywhere we quickly got our phones out and looked for somewhere to stay. People had previously recommended a place called the 'reggae mansion' so we headed there, we took a car from the airport at a cost of 200 ringets for all 3 of us. The taxi was absolutely freezing haha, felt like I'd got off the plane in the Antarctic. The reggae mansion was a beautiful Renaissance building, absolutely bloody huge. We checked in and went to our room. Gabbi and I were on the top bunk, which was fine except the ladder to get up was taller than us, plus a bed underneath, and trying to climb over the mattress for our beds. It was like climbing a bloody mountain I tell you.
Anyway, we tackled the hurdle of our bed and got ready to explore the rooftop bar at the hostel. It is a really cool bar that you can see a lot of the city from, including the Petronas towers. We had a few drinks and I went down back to the room to get my lip balm, on my way I ran into two Canadian girls who I met on castaway. They were just about to FaceTime Luke, an Aussie boy we all met on castaway, so I joined in with the FaceTime! It was good to catch up with them all.
Once FaceTime had been completed I went back upstairs and Kieren and Gabbi were talking to two boys from the West Country, can't remember exactly where, maybe Swindon. We decided to all go to a bar down the road together. Unfortunately, the lady behind reception said not to as it would be closing soon, and suggested we go to a street of bars a 10 minute walk away. We found our way and went for a few drinks in one of them. We then went upstairs and played a game of pool before it shut... So much for staying open later than 3.
As a troup we then made our way to good old 7/11, the hub of any backpackers late night food. There was not quite the selection they have in Thailand though. So I got a chocolate milk. Outside there was a street band playing, they were really good and we sat on a step and listened to them for about an hour. One girl in particular was great singer, singing sam smith, which I loved. There was this one guy playing the spoons rather passionately though, which was a tad odd. Once the band finished we got a taxi back to the hostel. It was an extremely fun taxi ride, with pillows, karaoke and a back scratcher hahaha! And that, was the end of the night.
