So a quick entry from Chengdu before we jump on a plane to Beijing, we are true jet setters! Since I last wrote it has been my Birthday. I had a great day. Gary and I went to a great restaurant in the back streets of Shanghai. As we were walking alomg, I could not imagine we were going anywhere spectacular, but we turned off the main street to find a bustling, sophisticated restaurant, waiting for us to indulge ourselves. And Indulge we did. they had their own backery so we started with a range of breads. a rare treat in China as they usually put sugar in it, (they actually make everything that is meant to be savoury food sweet, even peanuts). Gary had a steak and I had salmon, (not very chinese I know, but we have been here for a while, we have nothing to prove!) and for dessert! well.... Gaz made the approprite choice of slice of chocolate birthday cake, all prepared with a candle and icing sying happy birthday naomi. We then went to one of the tallest buildings in Shanghai with a Jazz club, was fab and very "shanghai". It was amazing to see the city from above, so much going on, so many lives.
..... well, I have no time to wrte about the horse trek now, but that was out of this world.... will write very soon.....
