Naomi's World
So..... a smooth an pleasent flight to Bangkok, not a worry in my head, this was of course after an epic adventure to actually get the flight. I could compare this experience to a comic flim, possibly charlie chaplin, where everything possible goes wrong... I'll keep to the short version you lucky things, you...
The day before scheduled flight: I come down stairs to my parents inform me of this terrible mess at Heathrow Airport with flights cancelled and delayed. Naomi: Nervous, FACT!
The day of travel: Naomi decides to try and get the flight seeing as yesterdays flight went withonly a 20 minute delay. She gets to the airport 4 hours before the flight to be greeted by 1000s of people in blankets waiting outside the terminal building. a sight I wont forget! It soon becomes clear that we have to wait outside the terminal (in the cold... and shortly after, in the rain, until somone with a loud speaker calls our flight.
Finally (after 3 hours) our flight is called and we all rush into the terminal.
9:15pm: Naomi is at the front of the queue, getting nervous and excited all at the same time, too much for her little-ness to handle. (Im going to stop this 3rd person narrative rubbish now, getting a little difficult, although my literature lecturers would like to see me make the point here that this form of narrative indicates an outer body experience... which i suppose it was!!!!! shut upppppppppp) I get to the desk and I hear a bleeeeeeep... *um sorry, this means that the flight is now closed* says the women behind the desk *what!!!!* I exclaim in Anger-mode-naomi (you can learn alot soph!! u taking notes?)
what had happened was that we had been bought into the terminal too late and therefore not all the passangers were able to get through! what a joke. So the flight went, without 50 of its passangers on it. They re-booked our flights for 24 hours later. Anger and mass-dissapointment.
Anyway, to cut a long story short (which I am aware I have been unsuccessful with so far, as in life) laura and sarah, the mates of the universe, picked me up, took me back to Laura's (i had no keys to my house). They looked after a rather upset Naomi and i had to re-book my onward flight to Vietnam.... nightmare. sarah dropped me at stanmore station the next day, from Russell to drive me to Heathrow. Of course, true to the general theme of this story he came across major road works and was unable to get there. Ended up getting a cab. We also hit major traffic. I finally got to the airport, a little worse for wear. I pushed me and my backpack to the front of the queue, (with those Berlin sharp elbows) I wasnt going to miss this one!! I finally got it, only 30 minutes delay.... and now, I am in Bangkok waiting for my connection.
THE END
