Australia! the next adventure on my global travels. I have a job, im living at my cousin's place and its summer. The first thing that struck me about Melbourne when i touched down at the airport was the emptiness. The population of Shanghai is just under the whole of Australia's population! I look around me, and sometimes, I see nobody! a novelty. Also people stop at zebra crossings, this definatly took me by surpirse. Nobody pushes you on or off the train and best of all..... nobody spits or snots in the streets, am I in heaven? I am working for the wilderness society, a tree-hugging, hippy-loving charity. Its a great place to work, everyone is friendly and sociable, there's always a party going on somewhere. Plus I have been offered the opportunity to work at a music festival in Tasmania over new years which Im really excited about. Its also great fun living with my cousin. They have three kids and a dog, its such a cotrast living in a family again, im really enjoying it. they have shown me around and been pretty great. It Suzy's birthday tomorrow so we are going to the coast and we are going to swim in huge rock pools. sounds beautiful. The life in Australia, is, as everyone told me, really quite good! I work 4 hours a day then i have most of the day to hang around with people, drinking coffee/beer and wandering around looking at all the alternative shops Melbourne has to offer. China now seems like a dream, and i keep on having to check with Gary whether I was actually there or not. seems so removed and surreal. He assures me I was there and who am I to doubt him?! I miss the constant adventures of China and the often absurd, surreal moments we had there. Australia offers something different. Its not so much a challenge as a real chance for me to have fun, relax and enjoy the sunshine. I can't complain!
