Tasha's Oriental Journey
Later on that evening, we took the train to the Shipmans' home, for an English lesson.
Hiroka learns English from Anthony Shipman every Sunday evening, along with another sister, and so I was invited to the lesson as well.
It was very interesting, having to teach advanced English-speakers idioms, and the pronunciation of certain words... But definately fun!
As a lot of you know I've taken an English-teaching course, and so this was definately a useful bit of experience for me!
After the lesson, we went back home, stopping off at the supermarket on the way. Yes, the supermarket was open on a Sunday!
In Japan, all shops are open, all week, until around 8pm - 10pm. Supermarkets are open until 10pm, and then convenience-stores are open 24 hours a day. They're a little more expensive than supermarkets though, and so we try shopping for our food before the 10pm cut-off!
And the food here is SO inexpensive!!! The fish and seafood is SO nice, and costs next to nothing by our standards. I mean, you walk down the aisle and see packets and packets of purple octopus-legs! And meat is so cheap as well. A little box of chicken for example, is around 1 pound (sorry, no pound sign on this Japanese laptop!) to 1 pound 50, or 200-250¥!
And yet they're all stick-thin... try and figure that one out!!!
