First entry..here we gooo..
So I finally got to Coogee after an extremely uncomfortable 18hours on the plane, and I thought i'd got away from the rain, yet Sydney greeted us with a fantastic downpour much to our disgust! The location of the hostel couldn't be better though; right on the beach with McDonalds right underneath!! First day was a bit of a blur considering most of us were severly jet-lagged, but we had our first views of the sydney opera house and were taken to the Botanical Gardens which are rather impressive however FULL of spiders and thousands of bats; not particulary enjoyable to those that don't particularly take a liking to either! We walked round to the opera house and was quite disappointed to see it wasn't as grand up close and actually pretty dirty! The last part of the day was a jetboat trip round the harbour, and was so much fun although we got severely soaked!
Yesterday (25thMarch) was "Surfing Day", however not before a smoothie and a walk along the beach at 6.30 in the morning, it was sooo peaceful considering how packed it is during the day! So yes back to the surfing..i honestly didn't think I would have a clue, yet actually getting into the water with a board in my hand and i thought i was a pro surfer, ok not even close but hey i can dream! Saying that, i did actually manage to stand up...for a couple of seconds before nose diving in style! It was actually a lot of fun although i had had enough by midday, and thought slight concussion from the board hitting my head and a cut to the knee was good enough to sit on the beach instead for the rest of the afternoon!
Today (26thMarch) has been incrediblyyyy hot! We were on the beach again before 9 and it must have been over 25degrees!! Had to be dragged away around 11 though for a boring talk for those that want to find work and then we were wisked away to Darling Harbour (beaaautiful!) for fooood and a trip to the Aquarium, which had an increbible array of fish/mammals on show! Took a lot of pictures, but the best mammal award goes to the penguins shaking their tail feathers! Got back to the hostel tonight fairly wrecked, being in the sun all day really does drain you ..sorry to those all back in England in the rain, i really feel for you..not!!! hehe.
Sorry for the entry being pretty brief, i'm severly knakered but loving being here! Hopefully i'll be able to give you a better insight next time i update! Tomorrow we're walking from Bondi beach back to Coogee and then having a BBQ..yum!
Tata for now! xxxx
