Had my last day in wellington and i packed as much into it as i possibly could. Stated off with a booked city tour at 9am which went all around the outskirts of the city including the mount victoria lookout which gives you a panaramic view of the city. The tour lasted about 2hrs and it was pretty good and a lazy way to see the whole sity as no walking was required. I even went past peter jacksons (director of lorg of the rings, king kong etc) house and then later on we were passing film studios and i saw him giving a tour of the film studios to so privilaged guests!
After the tour i tried to get onto a lord of the rings tour but evrything was fully booked! at that stage i couold have done what half my dorm was doing and retured to the hostel for sleep or tv, but this was my last day and even in fort augustus there is a bed and tv so that could wait till later!
I had spent quite a lot of money in the week so i had to try some cheap options and by cheap i mean free! That ment a visit to the Museam of Wellington city and Sea, the museum was only on 3 levels and quite small but there was loads of information in there and it was actually really informative. Although Te Papa where i went yesterday is the more famous and biggar museum i would say i learned more at the city and sea museum. It also had a holographic show on the 3rd level which was really well done.
After that the sun was still shining and it was only 2pm so i headed to the next attraction on my map which mas the parliament building which is shaped like a beehive! There was a free hour long tour there that i managed to get on and it took you around the whole building and the adjacent library. It was similar to westminister inside, i was told this was on purpose as a tribute to the british influence on new zealand.
After that i headed further north and to Old St Pauls which was appartently one of New Zealands most famous churches. I had a look inside there and again this was a free thing to do! Then i headed back down to the peir and chilled out there for about an hour, enjoying some sun and the scenary which is on display down there.
I never returned to the hostel till about 6pm, i had a shower and headed back out to the cinema to see Wild hogs (this actually cost money, could find a free movie show anywhere!) It was pretty good and now i feel as if i have made the most out of my short trip to wellington. I still cant understand people just sitting playing on laptops in the hostel!
Next stop is Auckland again before heading to sydney, doubt i will be able to see that much as i get to auckland at about 11am and then leave at 6am the next morning! It will be better in sydney when i will actually have 5 days to spend in one place.
Hope everyone is doing good in scotland, ill upload some more photos when i get a chance.
