Arrived at wellington no problem after having the cheapest trip to an airport ever at rotorua (it cost 65p to get to the airport!). The drive in the airport shuttle from the airport to the hostel was very scenic. Wellington is a really unique capitol city as it seem almost like a rural town, its quite easy to walk around and it has great scenary as it is situated on the coast looking out to the sea.
I have spent my first day walking around wellington and there were some canoe races on at the harbour so i sat on the wall looking out to the harbour watching that in the 75 degree heat. Then i decided to do something and i went to the Te papa museum which has 6 levels and a lot of hands on things to do. I spent the best part of an afternoon there before heading out and then as i exited the museum i heard the sound of bagpipes! I followed the sound to find a piper and a girl doing highland dancing on the harbour! Appartentley they were heading to compete in the military tatoo in edinburgh this year.
Then after consulting my map i headed to check in at my hostel, the hostel looks a lot better than the previous ones i have stayed at, clean and with good facilities. Unfortunatley all my room mates are sleeping at its only 4pm! But i have heard of a good bar next door that i will try out tonight and i have a city tour booked for tomorrow which starts at 9am.
