A few interesting things to tell you all i will start in order of me doing them -
firstly I have started my stray pass around oz and my first stop was to cathedral cove were i faced my fear of the open sea and sea kayaked it was amazing beautiful blue sky floating along seeing fairy penguins and sting rays arriving at a sucluded beach and had a picnic with a full range of coffees and biscults. after my mocha with extra froth and a bit of an explore we head back to be in time for a hot water beach in hahei. The beach has a hot spring that meets the sea so you dig your own hole and it fills with hot and cold water heaven! just lay watching the sunset. All you needed was some bubble bath it would be perfect. The only problem was getting around as it water was sooooo HOT you burned your feet when stepping on it. As I was being a bit lazy I had a habit of getting into other peoples holes unfortunatly they had been abandoned for good reason either freezing cold or so hot you skin melted off as soon as you dipped a toe!
The next day we headed to Raglan which is NZ surfing capital. I decided to have a going at surfing as it rained the whole time down the east coast of Oz so i didn't have the chance. So after pouring myself into a very flattering wet suit I headed to the beach. I waded into the freezing water with a rather over weight curly haired man who promised i would be standing by the end......WELL it wasn't as simple as that! As he held my board I clambered on and caught the wave as i got into postion i went head first into the sand stood up and headed back to the hugh waves after a few times of this i was getting a bit upset but still kept going. Then THE wave came that competely crushed me so scared and i had drank most of the sea i headed to dry land which was easier said than done as the waves decided they liked me and kept dragging my feet and board back. I have offically decided i'm not a surf babe definatly just a beach babe. After would we went to a san in the bush so amazing its great to be warm after the freezing water but unfortunatly the boys decided they liked it hot and throw so much water on the stones we all had to leave as it was to hot and steamy for us mere mortals.
We then head to some caves, again put in a wet suit this time it is so thick my friends have to help pull it over me. This resulted in hugh fits of giggles to the point that the instrutor had to come in and calm us down or just take a snick look at us in bathers! finally after lots of pushing and pulling i had my outfit on. But no the embarresment didn't stop there they had to put a skin tight jacket on which would do over my boobs so it took me holding them flat and the guy zipping them in! Only to be topped with some great wellies and a bright red helmet. Then and only then did we make our way to the caves with under water rivers in. We have a quick lesoon on how to work our lights and then head down a moss covered ladder where my bum gets stuck after a few wiggles i'm in but the guides just says follow the river i can't see where i'm heading as i'm the first person after falling over in the river a few times i reach the meeting place. I really hate being under ground and climing as i have no coordination but as we squeeze through a few holes and rocks all seems good and I really start to enjoy it. We reach the rubber rings which involves me climbing a rock holing my ring and jumping backwards! after a few words of encouragement i let out a little scream and am floating! we all link together and float along a river with is totatlly dark only light my glow worm they are like fairy lights in the ceiling. Stop for a break of tea and chocolate then getting to the swimming bit so scared but cope quite well only a few 'oh my gods' and 'i really don't like this'! I thought the worst was over when we spotted an eel it went a way and i patted myself on the back for being so brave until i was squeezing through a hole when something floats past my leg I totally freak out the guide was very good and calmed me down. I see the light of freedom ahead and thinking the worst was over i start my climb over the last rock only to face the biggest spider web in the world i ended up chanting its not real its not real they only put it there for a joke by the time i got out i was a nevous wreck but i did it and thought that would prob be the scarest thing i would do in in NZ
A day later i was heading to taupo the cheapest place to sky dive but unfortunatly the weather made the choice for me and clouded over and provided gale force winds so couldn't do it what a shame! so that night our driver Princess and i decided to get drunk, so started by trying all shots off the list and a few beers and before we knew it we were heading to the karoke bar where she decided to sing and i got chatted up by Nessie a scot who worked in the hostel. anyway got to home about 3 then decided i needed a shower and managed to nearly knock myself out of the hook on the door so craweled back to my room were i couldn't find my Pj so just went to bed in my bra and pants only to be woken by a swedish bloke telling me we are leaving in 15mins to skydive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! s***! jumped out of bed loaded all my stuff in my bags and got dressed before i knew it the two of us were in a limo heading to the air field. My heads spinning and feeling extremly hyper i think i'm still drunk! Put stunning jump suit on and slowly it starts to sink in what i'm auctually doing after trying everything to get out of it i meet Pete a crazy dutch dude who is responsible for my safety lucky he is quite cute so don't mind being strapped to him but do mind the DVD he starts as look really rough!
then we head into the plane at this moment my knees start to wobble the plane is so small it only has room for me and the swedish guy i feel sick just writing this email! the plane takes off and we are sailing over a lake the size of singapore and have snow capped volcanos and mountians in the back ground so pretty he is distracting me with loads of facts and figures. Between 12 and 15ft you need oxygen i hold the mask to my face like its a matter of life and death. then the count down begins and i start to cry and start to say in a very calm voice ive changed my mind i would like to stay on then the call of GO GO GO is given by the pilot and the swedish guy is gone. This is the moment i lose the plot i go hysterical crying and screaming then we are out of the plane and i'm looking at the ground and the fear engulfs me and i think i'm going to die. i make my self open my eyes and look.........WOW beautiful i start to enjoy the freefall but after 60secs the shoot goes up and i'm screaming again then we are floating over the most stunning place i've seen in my life its the best thing ive ever done. We cruise around a bit and Petes filling me in on what i can see and then we gently float to the ground all the people from the bus are there and i started to cry as i'm so happy and proud of myself and everyone starts crying with me!
