Hard to believe that we have been here in Jakarta for over a month. We have moved into our house and we have our household effects. By having our pictures on the wall, it seems to make it more our house. We have bought our predecessor's car and taken over the staff. We have a housekeeper who comes in about 9:30 each day and works 8 hours. We have a driver who works 10 hour days, starting whenever we request. We have a part time Gardner who is eager to please and works quite hard. Plus we have the security guards on the house. At this stage we do not have a cook.
The kids have started back at school, making new friends. Their days are long, as the bus arrives to our house around 6:30am and returns from about 4:00pm onwards, depending on the traffic. There are about 9 kids on the bus. I believe that they listen to music on their iPods, read, talk to other passengers, or just look out the window.
We took the kids to their first outside curriculum activity, rugby union. They enjoyed themselves and have the opportunity to travel overseas to play, which is pretty cool! Unfortunately there is no rugby league played here.
The boys have also made friends with Australian neighbours, although I think there are more to meet.
Guy has been studying Bahasa Indonesian and I will also be studying, starting next week. I have also volunteered to help Maths in Liam's class at school. I have been to visit the Austn and NZ association and I plan to visit the British one too, as the kids are at a British School. That and the shopping will hopefully keep me out of mischief!
This week is Australia Day. I don't think we will do anything, but I have some stickers and flags for the kids. We have Monday 23 January off to welcome the Chinese New Year in. 2012 is the year of the dragon - did you know it is a water dragon?
Anyway, that is all for the moment. We are enjoying our life here, although we miss our family and friends. Hope you are well too.

Annet hey chris, glad you posted, wondered if you were going to keep the blog going! So what does a housekeeper do for 8 hrs if there is no one home except you? Surely can't be that much to do?! Is it driving you crazy or are you relishing it?
