Neil's Round the World Trip!
We got the ferry to Bruny Island today. We drove through the island to Adventure Bay and had lunch. The beach was gorgeous with clear water and white sand. We drove to the Penguin Lookout on the causeway but couldn't see any penguins. We walked up the sand dune to the aboriginal memorail to Truganini (the last Tasmanian Aborigine) we read the information plaque; she had a hard life, her sisters were stolen by whalers, her husband was killed by convicts and her parents murdered by fisherman.
We drove back to ferry and then got back to the mainland. We drove to Ida Bay which was stunningly beautiful and also saw the springs nearby which were 25c.
We got back to the hostel and sang songs with Naya and Geoff as he had his guitar. I sang wonderwall by Oasis (wasn't that bad actually) well Naya wanted me in her band but maybe it was just to be like Bez running round with maracas!!
We dropped off our hire car and hit the town with Israeli guys from our hostel and Naya/Geoff. We had drinks at the harbourside and it was really nice but the place was so crowded and there were plenty of scuffles (more than Glasgow-unbelievable!!) I think that's due to the parochial, redneck vibe you get from the locals. Naya and Donna got egged by a passing boy racer car and we saw 5 guys wrestling in the park at 2am. Hobart's a strange place folks!
