Neil's Round the World Trip!
We got up early and a little bleary-eyed as the Germans in our dorm left at 7am and made some racket! We drove to St Helens, the countryside was outrageously beautiful. However when we reached the Bay of Fires it was amazing. Turqouise waters, white sand and rolling sand dunes. We had a picnic on the rocks which were teeming with crabs, starfish and sand spiders. We drove to Billalong Bay and then on to St Columba's Falls but couldn't walk to it as the path had disintegrated into the river.
We then drove towards Launceston and after trying several hostels (which were all full) we settled on Irish Murphys pub. We were given the Limerick Dorm and my bed was named Kaliber (how ironic!) . We had a really good value meal in a nearby Italian restaurant where I overheard 2 Americans talking about allergies; One girl was ordering a peanut based pasta sauce and said " I wouldn't want to have an allergy" the other girl then replied (phoebe from friends style) " Oh I would just like so...die if I was allegic to peanuts" the waitress intervened with "yes, yes you would". It was hilarious I burst out laughing!
We were having a few pints in the bar of Irish Murphys when the couple from Bichono appeared. I didn't mind but the girls weren't amused as Naya can be a little too energetic and loud. Some Tasmanian locals spoke to us but they were really rough and the girls had high pitched voices that squeaked. They were also pretty uneducated and racist. I got the feeling I was out in the sticks.
We chatted to them until midnight and then went to bed or tried! The noise from downstairs (as it was Aussie Day Eve) was deafening. So got to sleep at 3am!!
