Neil's Round the World Trip!
I got up early today and got on the Pachamama bus. I met my driver Marco and guide Prader. We then picked up other people on my tour from their respective hostels. I spoke to a Kiwi guy for a while but he was a bit quiet so I chatted to some English girls from Bath University.
We drove through the suburbs of Santiago and after an hour reached the village of Pomaire. We stopped here and walked around the handicraft stalls. Feeling a little peckish we were tempted into a restaurant by a pushy tout and tried empanadas (bit like Cornish pasties but not as good). We then drove further south to a huge Dam called the Rapel. I spoke to a hilarious English guy called Nick from Plymouth. I love his west country accent!
We drove further south to Puchilemu which is a picturesque surf town. I'm in a dorm with 3 English girls, Beccy from North Wales, Rachael from London and Bridgitte from London. They all went to Bath University but have finished. We went for a walk along the beautiful beach. The waves were huge! I spoke to 2 English girls on a GAP year from Stafford. They told me Rio was amazing but my parents already told me that!
We watched the sunset nearby in Punto Lobos, it was beautiful!
Later we went to a Mayan theme bar and had some Pisco sours. We then had a BBQ at our Hotel Bahia. It was ok but the pork was awful! I actually wretched it was so bad. It smelt strongly of pig and oh it's put me off pork for life I think!
Later we went to sleep around 1am on our freezing dorm. Oh and my bed had seen a bit of action, it sank on the middle almost like a hammock. I think I'm going to have a sore back...
