Arriving at the bus terminal, feeling pretty tired after a disturbed nights rest (to put it bluntly), I was not in the mood to be ripped off. As I had previously done this journey a week before for $35 pesos I was not best pleased with the $200 pesos price even from the counter within the terminal recommending you use these for your safety...and their profit! I walked passed and went to the street and managed after a short while to find a guy who would put the meter on for me to match the price. With a $60 pesos fare due to the traffic I was happy I put the effort in and went to the hostel where I managed to make it just in time for breakfast! After getting sorted I headed down to a few stores in a cute little area on the way to the Anthropology museum. This was amazing, as you can guess about anthropology but it was really interesting looking at the various indigenous culutres and their histories throughout central america from the first homo sapiens till their place in modern society. This was a huge place and information overload but going at this point in the trip after visiting the various villages, ruins and archelogical sites some of it managed to stick and make sense. I spent the whole day here and feeling rather pathetic after the night bus I headed back on the metro to the hostel where I had some dinner and got everything sorted for check out and flight home in the morning. I felt kind of guilty not going out but the guys in the hostel were all chilling too and after leaving Cassie I didn't really fancy venturing out alone! I also realised that after another full day tomorrow, flying through the night, addition of jetlag and missing another nights sleep it was probably not the wisest move anyway!
My final day in Central America has arrived! After breakfast I packed everything up, leaving with hardly any of my belongings I came with luckily making room for a fair few souvenirs! I ran some errands then decided to spend the last day shopping in the city and getting a few last bits and pieces. Despite been my last day it was pretty uneventful. I enjoyed walking through the streets and the things that had started to get slightly annoying here were now endearing qualities of the city that I knew I was going to miss. The loud, terrible spanish music blast out of every electronical shop and for some reason pharamcies was a main trait that caught my attetion alongside the people trying to sell various crap on the metros. After buying somethings and people watching through the streets it was mid-afternoon. I decided to head back to the hostel to get some dinner and shower before my flight. Once ready at a nice relaxing pace, I enjoyed a last beer with a few guys in the hostel then I headed to the metro and was on my way to the airport.
And that was that, the journey was complete, I had reached my final destination. Five months, eleven countries, three plane journies, numerous bus and boat journies, countless precious memories and invaluable lessons learnt, heaps of amazing experiences, lots of interesting people and a handfull of lifelong friends. It really has been a life changing adventure and I will never known the true the value of it. All I know is I am grateful for the chance and opportunity to have this experience and I am happy, excited and ready for the next adventure. A real job! Good Luck Kids...
