With Facebook around it's hard to let anything get past anyone. Thank you Facebook.
I didn't tell the group I had a birthday on the tour. I didn't want a big deal, I was happy enough being in India. And the ways we spent our days were amazing as is, I didn't need or want anything else.
But bloody Facebook.
I was hoping that we could be out of the guesthouse and away from WiFi before anyone got the birthday notifications you get every morning. But, that didn't happen.
It was a slow morning, and one friend came in with chocolates and a hug because she found out. Little did I know that she started a group message and let the rest of the gang know. After a while I walk upstairs and they're all there sitting around the table and started to sing, 'Happy Birthday' the minute I walked out the door. They even bought cake! Beautiful, chocolate and with orange decorations - all my favourite things in one.
We had our usual day. Meetings and Chai. We visited sound dubbing studios and sound effects people.
Raksha surprised us with another cake - chocolate with butterscotch bits, the greatest! They sang Happy Birthday and I got fed cake by Raksha. Such a good laugh, and we were up to total sugar overdose by then.
That night we went for dinner at a sports bar. Someone else was celebrating their wedding anniversary with cake, but they found out it was birthday and the whole restaurant started to sing. The wedded couple even gave us their leftover cake to enjoy.
We followed dinner with drinks at a local Karaoke Bar. There we drank the night away and crashed the dance floor of another girls birthday party where we danced until the club closed.
It was so much fun trying to follow their dance moves and then them following ours. Watching our Course Coordinator pull his dance moves and the saree of one friend fall around her knees. Definitely a well spent dance off with locals.
It ended with a tuk tuk ride home and game of Uno with the drunks and Mukesh until the early hours of the morning.
I'll cherish this birthday and all the beautiful people I got to spend the day with. It was the by far one to definitely remember. I had to share it was that great.
