Well, after a long stay at the beachouse we decided to step out of the bubble and go island hopping! First of all we visited Robinson Crusoe Island, where we stayed for three nights. The island was very basic and rustic, with cold buckets of water for showers and a 28bed dormitory! The electricity went out at midnight and water was obtained using a pump! We felt like real islanders as we were told when arriving "here, we treat you all as islanders, not guests"!!! The nightime entertainment was pretty amazing with the locals performing traditional fijian dances, dressed in costume, and fire shows! We all had to join in, which was very fun except we are now left with a few sand burns on our legs from falling over! Attractive! The beach was gorgeous and at night we sat on the sand and star gazed, which was fab. We got the opportunity to visit a local primary school, where we met the children and they performed a song/dance assembly for us! It was such a great experience and afterwards we all had to drink kava which tasted like muddy water-yummy!! We also went kayaking around the island and were very sad to leave, it was such a great island.
The second island we visited was Bounty Island, where Celebrity Love Island 1 was filmed! The old film set is still there on the other side of the island, we walked around to see it and it is now a complete wreck as apparently a group of drunkards trashed it last summer...nice. The island itself was pretty small (you could walk around it in 10mins) and we did some hardcore sunbathing! The same can be said for our 3rd island, Beachcomber Island, where we were meant to be staying in a 120 bed dormitory-but Oh dear-it was fully booked so we got put in a 7bed dorm for the same price!! Hard luck eh!?
Overall, Fiji was absolutely amazing. The locals were so friendly and welcoming and the only thing we wont miss is the Kava!!
Hope alls well, lots of love
