My deepest appologies for not writing sooner. In a land that has wonderfully advanced technology, the hotels I have been staying at have not had any wifi and only 1 computer for the entire hotel. Japan is AMAZING! I must let you all know that my 12 hour flight across the Pacific went horribly wrong...turbulence the entire way and I was soooo super sick. Yes, I threw up...ugh. I have been very adventurous and have been speaking the native language. Today I ventured out on my own to find a post office. Once I got there, no one spoke English. I did manage to buy some postcard stamps....great success! It is so much fun being outside of your element and comfort zone. Speaking of comfort zone, many of the bathrooms are traditional bathrooms, meaning a hole in the floor. Crazy! It has been very interesting. It makes me feel lucky that I have a toilet at home waiting for me. Right now I am wearing a yukata, which is a summer kimono. At the hotel I am staying at, it is mandatory to wear them. It is a traditional Japanese hotel in which we sleep on tatami floors on a mat and we sit at a low table on little cushions. Today I saw the Great Buddha which is over 12 centuries old. I have been taking a ton of pics, but right now I cannot upload any pictures. I might be able to see Mt. Fuji tomorrow, but no promises. The weather here is sooo hot and humid! Today I saw a traditional Japanese wedding progression and it was beautiful! I have purified myself at each shrine and temple I go to. I have pictures and videos. Hopefully I will be able to upload pictures in the near future, but no promises. As soon as I get back to Great Falls, I will upload everything.

Brenda Babcock Laura, You write so beautifully! I am so happy that you are experiencing traditional Japan, toilet and all! The temples and shrines must be something to see. Hope you slept well on the mats. You must have been thrilled to put on the kimono! Have fun and be safe! Love you....Mom
