We spent lunch and early afternoon at Sword Beach, in Ouistreham. Our guide told us all about the D-Day landings there, which was fascinating. Later we played on the beach and some of the braver ones had a paddle! We had a lovely lunch in the Crêperie before carrying on to Arromanches.

Back on the bus and along the coast road to Arromanches to visit the 360 degree cinema. We watched a film about the D-Day landings, which was really moving. The 360 degree sound and image, together with the use of primary source media, really brought WWII to life. The view of the sea and beach was stunning. The gift shop was well used afterwards! On the way home we stopped for a browse through the quaint town of Bayeux (we didn't get to see the tapestry though)...

We arrived at the beautiful village of La Haye du Routot, full of timber-framed thatched cottages and were greeted our charming interpreter, Janice, her daughter India and Yves, the baker. Yves was quite a character and enjoyed the banter with children. We all had a go at making our own bread rolls, but Yves said the teachers' efforts were "NO GOOD" but the children's efforts were very good! While the bread was proving we went across the lane to the Clog Museum...

Up bright and early this morning after a good night's sleep. The showers are extremely powerful and woke us all up! Especially in Amber's room where the shower had a life of it own and sprayed the whole bathroom! We had a delicious breakfast of cereals, yogurt, fruit, cheese, ham, bread, and plenty of those delicious croissants that somehow taste much better than the ones you buy in Tesco. We are on the coach now, en route for the Pain au Four bakery in La Haye d...
