Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
Today was a full day of touring in the Beaujolais and Burgundy wine country. Our 1st stop in the morning was to the Chateau des Ravatys winery in Beaujolais. We took a tour and then had a tasting in their wine cellar. After the tour we stopped for a while in the town of Beaujeu before taking a scenic ride from Beaujolais to Burgundy. We stopped for lunch in the town of Cluny before heading to a goat cheese farm way out in the country. Surprisingly, Bonnie who does not normally like goat cheese, found one she liked. Then it was time to look for truffles. At another very remote area in Burgundy, we went to a farm where the owner cultivates truffles. We met the owner and then the star of the show - Chinook the truffle hunting dog. He was amazing. He found three truffles for us and each time the owner gave him a reward. They don't appeal much to us, but truffles are very costly - running about $400 a pound.
