We arrived in Nha Trang on the 23rd December by sleeper bus, it had been a long 11 hour journey in cramped conditions but to be fair we did actually sleep quite well. At around 6.15am we were greeted buy hundreds of vietnamese people doing thier daily stretches, excercise classes, playing badminton and keepy uppy without a ball (Straaaange people).....
We went and found our hotel (a very nice one at that), we asked what the chances of a early check-in were... they luckily said come back at 10am, better than the 2 oclock check-in. We spent the next 3 hours at a nice little french bistro and strolling along the beach front. After we'd checked into our room and freshened up we went down to the beach and had a couple of drinks at a very smart sailing club. We then headed into the centre of town looking for a cheapish eatery. We found an aussie bar where we enjoyed some good grub and lots of cheap beer. Later that night we went out in Nha Trang, going to a backpackers bar and a couple more bars.
Christmas eve we had a very chillaxed day, ending tucked up in bed together watching Mr Bean and ice age .
Christmas day arrived and it took us absolutly ages to open all of our presents.. a whopping total of 0.. haha!! We had breakfast in our hotel and decided to go to Vinpearl 'asia's disney land' apparently. Vinpearl is an island fun park with rides, waterpark, arcades and animal shows. To get across to the island you have to go by the world's longest oversea cable car.. from our hotel we could see the cable cars they looked about 15 mintutes walk away, so we headed towards the cable cars by foot.. it only took us 1 hour 30 minutes to finally get to them. With the weather being quite windy Lucy didnt really enjoy the cable car experience, rocking from side to side constantly. First we decided to watch the animal show, this was absolutley hilarious.. monkeys riding bikes and doing press-ups.. Crazzy!! Then it was arcade time, everything in the arcade was free, you could play on anything you liked without paying a penny. The first thing both Lucy & Peter decided to go on was the Rodeo Bull, having competitions who could stay on the longest.. Lucy won.. thats one for the girls!! We then played on the dodgems, basketball, horse riding and plenty more games..again competing against each other allll the time. After dinner we headed to the aquarium to see sharks, sting rays, turtles and a big nosed fish that looked like John Blackburn..haha.
We then had a quick hour on the waterpark by this time it was turning a bit chilly to stay there ages. The first slide we both had a race down (head first) Peter won.. revenge was gained. Had a few more turns on other slides and then sat on the lazy river for literally 2 mintues as Lucy quickly jumped out, not informing peter why but she'd seen a rat in there. All in all we had fun at Vinpearl.
When getting back to the hotel we skyped Family & Friends to wish them a merry christmas, it felt nice to speak to everybody and hear what santa had brought them.
That evening we hit Fernando's for our tradional christmas dinner (Pizza), a tad different to the norm. Enjoying a few drinks.. what christmas wouldnt be complete without playing some kind of boardgame.. Helllloo cluedo and connect 4!!
Peter snook off at one point to buy Lucy a christmas present.. chocolate peanut butter love hearts.. awww how lovely!!
Normally boxing day is all about Turkey & stuffing sandwiches or in Peter's case beef sandwiches and sheperds pie... but not this year... ohh noo.. it was about relaxing and taking a mud bath. Thap Ba Hot Spring Centre has mud baths, hot mineral baths, waterfalls and heated swimming pools. We couldnt really get any photos when in the mud baths but we reasure you it was amazing. Lucy could tell Peter wasnt keen on the idea of sitting in the mud bath and getting his full body in there but he did it in the end and actually loved it.
Later that night we went to the sailing club and had a bite to eat.. this place wasnt really on our budget scale but we thought ooohh what the heck.
