27th December we caught the bus from Nha Trang to Mui Ne at 8am and arrived around 1pm. When the bus dropped us off our sat nav (Peter) told us we had a long walk ahead to where we needed to be. Soooo we set to and kept walking and walking .. i forgot to tell you this was probably the hottest day we had so far in Vietnam. After about 30 minutes of walking we decided to stop and hydrate ourselves with a drink. Then after 30 more minutes and 10 times of asking how much a room would be we finally found a room we could afford (well what was in our budget.) Mui Ne appeared to be one of the more expensive resorts in Vietnam.
After dropping our bags in the guesthouse we headed towards the beach, struggling to actually find an entrance among all the 'posh' resorts which line the beach front. In our opinion it was ridiculous. When finally getting onto the beach front it was quite apparent that kite surfing and wind surfing were very popular. Kite surfers EVERYWHERE. As we walked a little further we stopped for a drink and basically just people watched most of the afternoon.
The morning after we were up early at 4.30am to take a jeep to watch the sunrise at the sand dunes..but before all this we had a vistor in our room.. let the battle commence between Peter and the huge cockroach. Im glad to anounce that Peter won hands down as the cockroach ended up being stomped on and placed in tissue in the bin. Anyways back to going to the white sand dunes... It was a stunning sight to see, sand dunes stretching into the distant. We decided to hire a quad and venture a little more. We also hired a couple of plastic sheets to 'attempt' to slide down the dunes, this proving to be harder than we thought. After spending a good 1hr 30mins at the white sand dunes we then got taken to the red sand dunes.. no where near as nice and as good.
The next stop was a fishing village but for us we had seen loads of fishing villages in Vietnam and didnt really find it that interesting.
After that we went to what they call the 'fairy spring' basically its a stream that runs from the sand dunes and you walk through it taking in the sights. At the beginning of the fairy spring there were loads of young boys wanting to take you and be your guide.. obviously wanting money for it ... we didnt really want or need a guide but one boy seemed to tag along with us, we got a bit fed up of him and tried giving him a little bit of money and said thankyou so that he didnt come any further with us. BUT .. the very ungrateful boy said he didnt want it... he wanted double. Peter was very angry that this boy who had hardly anything was so ungrateful and turned down the money, so he put it back in his wallet and told the boy he wasnt having anything. The boy kept asking both of us 'Why..why..why' and we stood and tried to tell him that it was ungrateful. That afternoon we headed to the beach and sunbathed most of the afternoon.. resulting in Peter burning his shoulders.. Durrrr!!
Our last day in Mui Ne was spent playing crazy golf in the morning and chilling out at the beach again in the afternoon.. ahhh its a hard life!!
