Las Vegas
We arrived in Las Vegas at around 9.30pm. With the traffic still being busy Peter got in a little tizzy whilst we tried to find where we were supposed to park the car for our hotel Bally's. We drove round a multi-story self car park for about 10 mins and couldn't park anywhere apart from the top. At this point Lucy needed the loo, so we quickly grabbed all of our bags and ran to the multi story stairs. We made it all the way down the stairs to find we were in the wrong Casino.. Brilliant!! Back into the car we went and decided we would just go to the valet parking for Bally's. Once we had handed our car over we made our way to the reception desk to check in.
Our room was amazing, so spacious with everything we needed. Pure Luxury compared to what we are used too. Bally's has two tower blocks of accomodation, one being the North building and the other south. Apparently the North side is newer and more modern. You'll be pleased to know we stayed in the North side.. yaay!!
As organised as we are, we had bought a bottle of Captain Morgans (Rum) before arriving in vegas, as we thought it would be cheaper. So after a long day at the Grand Canyon and the big drive to Las Vegas we cracked it open, before going for a little wander around.
Of course you couldn't leave the hotel without walking through the Casino so we decided to have a cheeky little spin on the roulette.. we put our chips down and heard 'No more bets please' and the wheel spun.. which number will it be??
There's actually a story behind this which i hope we don't bore you with, this is how it goes....
Through the whole of our trip the number 13 kept popping up everywhere, our room numbers were always 13, locker numbers and so on. We started to think 13 could actually be our lucky number. So we always said when we got to Las Vegas we would put some money on 13. Yes you guessed it.. the first spin of the wheel was 13.. spooky or what!!
We walked away being in profit and made our way to the famous Bellagio fountains across the road. What a fantasic sight. When they finished we jumped into Caesars palace just to cool down, as it was mega hot outside. The both of us kept getting asked for ID everywhere we went, so we decided to ask if there were wristbands we could get to prove we were over 21 (making it easier, instead of getting passports out all the time.) We had to go into the security office and show our passports to get a wristband. Theses wristbands are an absolute waste of time.. we STILL kept getting asked for ID.. ohh well nothing wrong with looking young. By this time it was midnight and we wanted to get a good nights sleep, ready to explore some more in the morning.
As we awoke at 8.30am the following morning, it suddenly dawned on us that we were actually in VEGAS BABY!! So once getting ready we decided to do everything proper vegas style.. a captain morgans at 9.15am to start the day.. and nooo we're not alcoholic's, seen as we didn't touch another drop until later that night.. haha!!
We made our way down into the lobby, through the casino (to get out of the building,) we couldn't actually believe how many people were there.. playing on the slots and the tables.. some people don't actually sleep in this place.
The first place we wanted to see was the Venetian, which was absolutely beautiful, it had a river running through, with gondolas on it for people to sit on. Inside was just like being in Venice. An amazing place just to wander for hours. Thats the thing about Vegas you could just go and not even gamble.. theres so much to do. It was a very hot day, a bit too hot to wander around. Later in the afternoon we got our swimming stuff on and went in the pool to cool off.
We met a girl in LA called Lindsey who happened to be in Las Vegas at the same time as us, she was also staying in Bally's. We met up around the pool and decided to go out that night for something to eat and a couple of drinks. At 7.30pm we went into Paris and had some pizza before heading out. Because the Bellgaio fountains were just across the road we decided to watch them again.. as always they didn't disappoint. Then the heat made us very thirsty.. Half a yard drink anyone??.. (you can see theses in the pictures) Lucy's had southern comfort and lemonade in.. Peter's had Rum and coke and Lindsey Raspberry Vodka and Lemonade.. we are not lying theses drinks lasted us about 3 hours!!
The volcano at the mirage was next on the agenda and again this was pretty impressive. Also at the mirage they have dolphins and tigers to look at. Then Peter had a quick spin of the wheel, making about $100... BONUS!! As we were walking down the road, we came across a bar called Carnival.. we decided to have a little dance before making our way back to our hotel.
The following morning we had a little lie in, got ready and started walking south of the strip. Towards MGM GRAND!! But before anything else we had a quick look round the coca cola shop, having our picture taken with the coca cola polar bear, which was very funny. M&M's world was right next door so we had a quick look in there too. There were lots of things we could have bought but resisted. We then walked to the Luxor, where there was a Titanic Exhibit.. we had been told it was very good.. i think they were pulling our leg. Well to be fair it was ok, but nothing special. We had a quick look around Excalibur and New York, New York before making our way to MGM GRAND!
MGM GRAND used to have lions at the entrance of the casino but theses have now been removed.. apparently they couldn't afford to keep them.. what a load of s***!!
We still had about an 1hr 30mins before the Brad Garrett show.. which i forgot to mention earlier.. we bought tickets the day before for the comedy club at MGM Grand. For anybody who has ever seen 'Everybody loves Raymond' Brad Garrett is Raymonds brother in the show. But before the show we had another little gamble this time it was Lucy's chance to win.. we can honestly say it was the quickest $80 we've made in our lives.. 2 minutes exactly. RESULT!!Quitting whilst we were ahead we made our way to the comedy club, Brad Garrett is hilarious and basically doesn't care who he offends, there was also 3 other comedians on that night too, 2 being funny and 1 not so funny.
As we walked back towards Bally's we entered the Bellagio just to see what it was like inside.. one word.. POSH!! If you don't have the money.. get the hell out of there!! haha!!
Well sadly our Las Vegas adventure had come to an end, we could have stopped just one more night.. but before leaving we HAD to get a picture of the Las Vegas sign.
A cracking 3 days.. £100 up and definetly loads of memories!!
