The Beautiful South
What can I say so far? She's a perfect 10? Enough about Sarah.... Let's get onto telling u what we have been up to.
Busy as always, we awoke yesterday and headed straight for Wellington. We stopped by a couple of LOTR film sets on the way and then spent a few hours in the city before heading onto the Ferry to cross the Cook Straight to the port of Picton on the South Island. The ferry crossing was awesome and the scenery as you arrived into the South Island was beautiful too passing through the Marlborough Sounds.
No time to hang around though. Off the boat and onto the Queen Charlotte Drive, a spectacular costal route up and down mountains and offering breathtaking views onto secluded beaches and bays. We kept going (minus a few photo stops) onto the fishing village of Havelock and particularly to the Mussel Inn, renowned locally for its Seafood. We gave it the test by ordering the seafood platter to share and boy did it live up to its reputation. The only issue for us was whether or not we were able to finish it due to its sheer size!!!
Post desert, it was time to carry on West so we did to the town of Nelson and following a short unintended tour of the region, Neil finally managed to locate the camp sight for the night and we bedded down ready to begin our adventures on the South Island.
