My friend Carol suggested her and I are like the town mouse and the country mouse (me, hailing from London, UK; Carol, hailing from rural East Texas). So, yesterday we had an afternoon of adventure at The Fresh store in Tyler. It's similar to Whole Foods, an emporium of treats from around the world, freshly prepared ingredients either made up into a meal, or ready for you to cook up for yourself.
I discovered there's even Texan wine. I bought a Chenin Blanc, which I thought would be dry, but no, it was extremely fruity. A good thing actually, as both Carol and David enjoy the sweeter tasting wines. I myself prefer a dry white. We spent ages, scouring up and down the aisles, exploring unusual products and ingredients. By the time we got back to their house, Carol and I had bought loads of treats for everyone to try. The Korean Pear and Wisconsin cheddar I purchased seemed to go down well, as did the patisserie and chocolate coated almonds Carol bought!
All in all a great adventure for two mice!
