Carol, myself, L1, L2 and L3 (as Carol affectionately calls her girls) had a fun day mulching around Mineola. We started with coffees and a bite to eat at Henry's House of Java. I was able to get wifi connection and so made a Skype call to London. I was able to introduce Sandy, Mads and Clem to my good friends here in Texas. This is when technology is great.
We wandered around the back streets of town catching a glimpse of different buildings. The town is almost like a time warp, with charming shops, hair salons, galleries and Christmas lights. We bumped into the husband of one of their friends (who happens to be English). He showed us around their house, which is of historic significance. The fish pond and the marmoset monkeys were a big hit.
Carol wanted to show me the theatre and as luck would have it, the Executive Director was there and able to let us in. The building has recently been restored back to 1940s splendour and is somewhat of an historic landmark in town. I even got to see where the local community actors hang out back stage while waiting to walk the boards.
This evening we've chilled out. Carol made delicious butternut squash soup, which went down well with salad and warm asparagus. A shot of iron and vitamins to help ward off any unwanten cold germs that seem to be doing the rounds.
